GREEN DOT CARDS ARE A GOOD IDEA IF NEED A CREDIT CARD, BUT ARE BAD WITH PAYING YOUR BILLS OR GET CARRIED AWAY WITH YOUR SHOPPING. THE PROBLEM WITH THEM IS , THEY WILL NOT SEND YOU THE PERMANENT DEBIT VERSION THAT IS SUPPOSE TO COME IN THE MAIL WITHIN 4-7 DAYS OF PURCHASE.

i HAVE BOUGHT TWO OF THESE NOW ONE IN DEC. 2011 STILL NO DEBIT CARD, SO i BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE LATE FEB., IT IS 4/ 1 TODAY AND I STILL DON'T HAVE IT. WITHOUT IT YOU CAN'T GET CASH BACK, THE RETAILERS VARY VERY SKEPTICAL OF THEM ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS NO PIN OR PICTURE WITH IT. ANYBODY CAN USE THE OVER THE COUNTER VERSION IF LOST, SO THE PERMANENT VERSION WITH THE PIN, DEBIT CAPABILITY, AND CASH BACK CAPABILITY IS PRICELESS IN COMPARISON.

AT TIMES RETURNING ITEMS CAN BECOME A NIGHTMARE OR TAKE FOUR TO FIVE DAYS TO REGISTER BACK ON THE CARD.

IN SHORT IF YOU CAN FIND AN ALTERNATE OPTION I SUGGEST YOU DO SO , O KEEP ON THEIR *** FOR YOUR DEBIT CARD, I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE MINE. SINCERELY BRAD B.

Thought I just got a prepaid, this card is a pain in the ads to use and I can't even activated the other one without using someone else's ss# because you can only use one with your own.

basically loaded 500 bucks. went to 2 retail stores later that day...got declined.

I called them (after searching a while for their number and wasting my time again, FYI call 866-795-****; Press 5, then enter your card number and wait) ..

They said not all merchants take their card.

..you also cant use the atm until a "permanent card arrives"...I'm sorry, why did I pay for this aggravation? I highly do not recommend this useless card.

Stop using Green Dot money Pak

Green Dot suck *** my mom purchased a green dot money pak so i can't add funds to my paypal account this was October 14, 20014. On the Oct 15, 2014 i tried to add the funds to my paypal account only to find out that Green dot is accusing me of fraud.

I have the receipt for the money pak they have my money and i can't add the money to my account because they think i am doing something wrong. From the 15th i have tried to call green dot only to get automated machine with every number i can find.

Stay away from green dot they suck *** and only want your money with zero costumer service.

Unfortunately if you're reading this you have probably already experienced the horror of Green Dot for yourself. I had a permanent card and when my wife went to replace a damaged card online they froze both cards then after waiting 8 days for new ones they claim an error delayed new cards.

It will be another 5 days.

Customer service is not in America. I hate this company.

You are cleary a ***. The reason they did not send you a real card is because you were too uneducated to go to the website and sign up for an account and list your social security number.

If you could actually read you would have read they do not send the real card if you do not list a social security number. Without it your card basically becomes a gift card

what customer service i've tried being nice i've been rude they dont carethey put a security hold on my card twice for refunds in crucial situations where i needed access to my money and we aren't even talking about the refunds as soon as i get the money canceling the card

I agree, I had a card with them for a couple of years, I then went to sell a few things on backpage where I needed to purchase ad space. They said my 2 transactions were me using the card for "business purposes.'' They then went and shut the card off without my knowledge.

I one day went to reload it and it would not accept my moneypak number, so like always, I called those bastards in India who are supposedly customer support, more like customer *** offers, anyways, they told me what was up and that I was to get a refund check, still have yet to receive it and it has been over 2 months. I had to call every couple of days and throw a *** fit in order to get anything done or resolved with them. They several times overcharged me and were very hesitant to return my funds to me. Once for over $800 they put a hold on the card so I called, that didn't work so I went to a supervisor.

That also didn't work, so I went to his supervisor, still no luck. Finally with the 4th supervisor, who was actually in the frickin USA, was like, ok and typed a couple keys and voila, my money was mine and on my card again, what a *** hassle tho...I want to see them suffer

this is beyond ridiculous...they screwed up my card and rendered it unreloadable.....then the ONLY way I can use the moneypak I tried to load I have to buy another card....and THEN I will only get the $50 on the first card.....despite the fact that they charged a service fee which is not a charge for non-reloadable cards....and won't refund the money for a new card activation.....I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!!!

I can't be verified! And customer service is a joke.

This is my second attempt and all I am told and can be told is that they use a 3rd party vendor, use my temporary card, and oh yea, don't forget the monthly fee, next week, even though the card was purchased yesterday. I know my name, I know my ss number, my address, etc. I have had no changes and it makes no sense! I am done.

Having this happens is a pain in the rear, but the WORST part is there attitude driven, blank, blank, horrible accent customer service reps.

I was just trying to find a solution for my young college student so I can give them money w/out running the risk of overdraft charges. This sounded like a good idea and didn't have anything to do with credit, but 10 to 1 this has everything to do with the fact that my child is 18 and GE money can't seel them any credit!

Exactly, it's next to useless if one is trying for privacy and/or anonymity. The use of the SSN # changes a person's status to that of corporate slave rather than private citizen.

As in a waiver of rights.

The only reason many of us buy these and try them is to regain control of our identity and finances and to stop the companies leeching and trying to securitize our bank funds and this card which requires a social does not work for most people. It is a piece of ***.

A Green Dot employee stole $500 from me by getting the Money pak number and cashing it before I got to. They have had us on the run around for 4 months now trying to get it back...

we filed police reports, have investigations going on and everything...

They STILL refuse to take responsibility. Your best bet is to cancel your accounts immediately.

The standard to receive your personalized card is 7-10 business days. Please contact customer support using the number on the back of your card or log on to your account at www.greendot.com to report your card never received if it has been over 10 business days since you ordered your card.

When requesting a new card please verify the delivery address on file is correct. There are advantages to using the personalized card and we hope you can receive your personalized card and enjoy those features.

Green Dot Corporation is known for terminating cards for reasons they will not share with you and barring you from having an account with them. Beware, they do not value you as a customer and have no problem cutting you loose.

I have no idea what their software flags as suspicious, but it's a flawed system to be polite. The papers are full of stories of their products being used for fraud while honest people get stuck for hundreds they cannot access. Employee theft, cards being loaded improperly, etc. Their terms of service are vague and one sided, and I am personally quite happy not to be contributing to their coffers ever again.

If they screwed you over, my advice is, do what you can to turn the anger into action.

Tell everyone you know to use a competitor's card, post often online about your negative experiences, complain to every agency you can think of. It won't make an ignorant customer service rep in Mรฉxico give you your money, but it will give some satisfaction.
